Hi, I’m Kathy

Training & Credentials

My name is Kathryn “Kathy” Manning. I am a licensed clinical social worker and certified IFS practitioner, authorized to diagnose and treat mental health conditions in Maine, Washington D.C., Oregon, Virginia, and Colorado.

I hold two master's degrees — a Master of Social Work from The Catholic University of America (2015) and a Master of Science in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University (2011) — and I have built my practice around a single, focused approach: Internal Family Systems therapy with somatic awareness.

IFS Training & Certification

I have trained exclusively through the IFS Institute — the authentic credentialing and training organization founded by Dr. Richard Schwartz — completing Level 1 in 2020, Level 2 in 2020, and Level 3 in 2025. Since 2022, I have served as a Program Assistant in ten Level 1 trainings, supporting emerging IFS practitioners in developing their foundational skills.

In 2025, I completed the IFS Practitioner Certification, the IFS Institute's formal credentialing process. I have also pursued specialized training in Somatic IFS, integrating body-based awareness into my IFS practice.

I chose to specialize in IFS because I have felt its impact directly — in my own life and in the lives of those I work with. To continue growing as a practitioner, I regularly engage in IFS consultation and peer practice groups, keeping my work grounded, evolving, and accountable to the model.
